Christmas Gift Guide: The Beauty Edit

I love shopping for Christmas presents, especially beauty and skincare gifts and I’m always determined to buy people gifts that they really like, not just any old tat that will be thrown into the back of a wardrobe.

I always used to leave my shopping until very late December…I’m talking Christmas Eve. Literally over-heating in my fake fur coat, whilst hundreds of other people decided to do the same thing, with slim pickings of what was left on the store shelves. Never again! From now on, I’m being organised and if this means Christmas shopping in November, then so be it. I want my Christmas Eve left free to put my feet up, watch Christmas films and drink as much Bailey’s as I want! My postman hates me at the moment and always comments on the amount of parcels he’s currently delivery to my house, so I’ll have to tip him well at Christmas.

I know that Missguided have been selling their own label perfume for a little while now, but I never know what own brand perfumes are going to smell like, so I was blown away when a friend of mine gave me a few spritzes of hers to try. The quality is amazing, the smell is beautiful and it really lingers. The Boss Babe perfume* is £28 but search for discount codes online and you’ll be able to get it cheaper.

It is a fruity floral scent, which leads with notes of bergamot and pear with accents of pistachio. The heart marries rose accords with almond milk, orange blossom and magnolia. Base notes cushion with patchouli, amber, sweet tonka, vanilla, musk and creamy sandalwood.

The Vibe Enhancer* by Missguided is much cheaper at £10 and it’s also really lovely, perfect for those of you who love sweet smells. It’s a body mist so perfect for work or wearing during the day when you don’t want to use all your expensive fragrances.

Vibe Enhancer is a hypnotic scent of fruity apple, combined with strawberry, warm caramel and vanilla
Top notes: Apple, Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin. Middle notes: Jasmin, Lily of The Valley, Raspberry, Strawberry, Tropical Fruits. Base: Caramel, Kashmir Fusion, Musk, Vanilla

J.One Jelly pack (original) and J.One Black Jelly pack – I could literally rave about this Korean skincare brand until the cows came home. It is simply amazing. The original is the best primer that I’ve ever used. As the name suggests, it has a jelly, sticky-like consistency which really allows your make up to attach itself to it, and it lasts all day. I even had a nap in my make up, and rather than waking up with half of it rubbed off all over my pillow, it was still in tact! Incredible. It also hydrates your skin and really helped the dry patches that I get during winter time, and made my foundation blend in rather than look patchy. It’s around £30, so not cheap, but definitely worth it in my opinion.

The black J.One Jelly Pack is a nighttime jelly with a more fluid-like texture and antioxidant-rich formula that makes it a high-performance sleeping mask. Again, very nourishing for the skin and brilliant for winter.

If you’re struggling with dry skin, take a look at my other post reviewing Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream

Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré – so much the brand’s hero product that it’s mostly just referred to as “Embryolisse” – is a thick, hydrating cream packed with fatty acids and vitamins. Its skin-smoothing texture provides a good base for make-up, whilst its nourishing formula makes it a good healing cream too. The gentle and relatively simple formula and the limited ingredients list means that Embryolisse works well on sensitive or irritated skin. Those with oily or combination skin might find it too rich as it does take some time to fully absorb. It’ costs £15 so a decent, affordable moisturiser in my opinion.

This Childs Farm gift set* is for my 2 year old nephew who suffers with dry and sensitive skin. The set contains 1 x bubble bath, organic tangerine 100ml, 1 x hair & body wash, sweet orange 100ml and 1 x moisturiser, grapefruit & tea tree 100ml. Not only are they affordable, they are packed with natural ingredients (no nasties) and the designs are absolutely beautiful. They smell divine and are packed with ingredients like argan oil, which works wonders on cradle cap and dry skin. The gift set costs £8, so is a good stocking filler.

Entering my 30’s, I have definitely noticed changes to the elasticity and hydration of my skin, so these supplements are a welcome addition to my beauty care regime, and something I will also be gifting my friends who also have these skin concerns.

I hope you’ve found this gift guide helpful and it may give you some ideas of what to buy those loved ones who are beauty-obsessed, like me 🙂
